The Dates to mark down!
All classes run September 5-June 7th. Two weeks off for Christmas, Dec 24-Jan 4, and spring break March 18-29. Classes run as usual on holiday Mondays. (Payments include 36 weeks of instruction, a dress rehearsal and 3 performances on June 8/9 at The Community Hall.)
To avoid late charges, registration forms and payment can be returned on or before August 26th. Please scan and send forms to info@maragoldtheatre.com. Cheques (and forms) an be left in an envelope at the fitness centre. Etransfers are only accepted for the entire years payment at once. (Be fore warned,cheques can take a long time to order!) ***New this year…pay by credit card via pay pal. (Please ask for an invoice and expect a 3% service fee.)

****Class Prices increase 5% on Sept 4/18 and 10% on Jan 1/19. Students may be refused admission after March 1st.
The Nitty Gritty----Please read carefully and thoroughly!!!
1. Cheques are payable to Mara Brenner. Fees for each month (Sept-June, 10 months) do not change depending on weeks/month or holidays. Classes run as usual on all school Pro-D days and statutory holidays other than Christmas/New Years and spring break. NSF cheques are subject to a $20 fee.
2. Costume/registration fee-A $25 annual one time registration fee and a $25 costume rental fee PER CLASS will be required from every student upon registration with cheque dated Sept. 1/18. This is a rental fee. All costumes are the property of Gabriola Dance. Costumes are to be returned on June 15 at the wrap up party in the same shape they were received, hangar included or a fee of up to $100 may be imposed.
3. Missed Classes – If Gabriola Dance cancels a regularly scheduled class a make-up class will be posted on the facebook page Gabriola Dance and Pilates and by email. You are not required to attend a make-up class, but no refunds will be given for the cancelled class. If a student misses a regularly scheduled class, they may ask if there is an appropriate make-up class to attend and no refunds will be given.
4. Dance gear. ***NEW***
-Other than for Hip Hop, no outside clothes will be allowed after Oct. 15th.
-Modern/jazz/Acro and contemporary students are required to wear a leotard. Tight black shorts are optional.
-Ballet shoes for ballet and Jazz shoes for Jazz are required.
-Ballet wrap sweaters are permitted. No skirts.
-Ballet students must wear ballet tights and shoes. Leotard colours by age are as follows. Any style is acceptable: K/1/2 Pink, 3/4/5 Teal, 6/7/8 Dark Blue, 9 and up Dark Blue or Black.

5. Hair: Dancers with hair at shoulder length must wear a pony tail and bobby pin hair away from face. (not including hip hop) Ballet students in grade 4 and up please wear a bun.
6. Medical history. On top of returning the medical history form, please inform the instructor verbally of any medical issues your child may have....i.e....asthma.
7. Year-end performances are June 8/9. All children will be included in the year end show and may be offered to attend additional rehearsals in June. If your child will not be available for the year end performances please inform your instructor by March 1st.
8. Performance classes/festival dancers. Older students who show a deep commitment to dance may be invited to join this elite group. Some fees for these class (choreo and instruction, costume, festival registration fees, etc…) are not included in your regular class fees/costume fees.
9. Refunds- should your family decide to quit dance, a 30 day written notification period is required (email ok) in order to not pay fees the first day of the following month. i.e, If notice is given on Nov. 15th the December cheque will be cashed. Should your dancer be injured and withdraw for the remainder or part of the season, a doctor’s note is required and then your refund will be applied. Registration fees will not be refunded after Oct1/18, Costume fees will not be refunded after March 1st/19.
10. Observation. As the studio is small, we ask that you observe classes through the outside window
11. Shared facility***NEW . Children should never walk through the gym either unless given permission/accompanied by an instructor. (Please note, parents are not permitted to walk through either, unless they have a gym membership...insurance issue, and only with clean shoes.) Due to the design of the studio, the bathroom is available for use during class, when necessary, but preferably not as a changing room before or after class. Please try to arrive for class with dance attire on under your street clothes. Tights can be worn to school to save time. I.e.change at school or on the Ferry and wait with your child until their class starts. The Madronna complex, The Gabriola Fitness Centre and Gabriola Dance are not responsible for your child until their class time begins.
12. Dancers in any senior class are required to take Ballet or Ballet technique classes. Younger dancers are strongly encouraged as well as it is the foundation of all dance and without it progress is severely limited. (Hip hoppers are excluded.)

Jr. Modern dancers will be participating at the Christmas Pantomime. Performance Team competes at Festivals throughout Vancouver Isl. There will be additional fees associated with these performances.
