Year end show info for 2018
As the year end show approaches it's time for some details!
The last day of regular classes will be Wednesday, June 6th
Friday, June 8th, 12-3 set up (volunteers DESPERATELY needed) i am also in need of some Japanese curtains, aka room dividers please. Who has to lend?
Friday June 8th All musicians, senior dancers and soloists and duetists required. No one else please. ALL costume and hair changes will be rehearsed, so bring them. No make up please.
Performances:
Saturday June 9th 10:30am call time for EVERYONE (including musicians) for a full run through and a performance at 1:30.
Saturday June 9th 5:15pm call time for EVERYONE for a 6:00 performance
Sunday June 10 11:30 call time for all EVERYONE. Performance at 1:30
Details:
-Drop off your dancer in full make up/hair for each call time. —We had some major problems with lipstick and lip stain last year. Dancers are required to wear LIP STAIN. Lip stick will not be permitted. Dancers under 12 yrs should not do their own make up. Please label your child’s lip stain and give it to their teacher if they are under 12 yrs.
-Ballet girls in a high/tight bun, brown shadow, top and bottom lid eye liner with a tail and lip STAIN. False lashes optional and encouraged.
-Taylor's dancers: She will give you printed instructions for hair/make up but the ballet bun will be first for those in multiple dances.
-Bring a water bottle and non-messy snack. And a book.
-Doors open a half hour before the show.
-There will be no reserved seats before the doors open
-Parents are not permitted to be backstage or downstairs unless specifically invited.
-Hip hop kids need to be picked up immediately after their dance which will be second on the schedule. If you are watching the show they can be brought to you.
-The show is about an hour.
Take down help is most welcome Sunday 3:00-4:00
Important children’s dance information below!
Happy Family day everyone. I hope you are enjoying some family time. In case you weren’t sure classes are on today.
Please make note of the following:
-We are beginning to learn choreography and work on the year end show so attendance is mandatory. If your child is contagious please keep them home otherwise they need to be in class. If they have a sore leg or are too tired they need come and at least watch.
-Please email me with regard to absences at info@maragoldtheatre.com
-There are no children’s dance classes over spring break March 19-30.
-The final day to add a class is March 4th
-as planned in September, Acro dance class will not be performing at the year end show all others will.
-The year end Showcase date has not changed and is June 9-10. Please keep that Friday/Sat/Sunday available completely for dance. Expect lots of time at the Community Hall. Consider volunteering an hour to help with set up or tear down PLEASE!
-photo forms are coming soon and there are more options this year thanks to Brandi Meyer Photography!
-Costumes will come in May.
-Other news....please be sure to mark May 11th on your calendars as Dancestreams company will be dancing on Gabe. This company includes 3 of our senior dancers. Afternoon performance will be at the Community Hall.

I have been teaching Jacklin ever since I first arrived on Gabriola and she was in grade 2 at GES. Now, almost 17 years old Jacklin is in her second year with Dancestreams and is so deserving of this honour. She is dependable, hard working and intelligent beyond her years. I am so lucky to be her teacher.
Tickets for this show at the Port Theatre are on sale and it's sure to be an amazing. night of dance.

Winter Dance classes for Adults include, Barre, Tap, Modern and Ballet!
Hi there everyone,
The 2017/18 full registration package and calendar are available. email info@maragoldtheatre.com for a copy or find them on the policies or calendar pages on this website.
I know it's difficult for some people to think about September now but the sooner you get these forms returned the sooner Miss Taylor and I can start to plan for a great year. If you have any questions please email me. There is no need to email with your intentions just fill in the forms and scan them back and return by email or in an envelope with my name to the Fitness Centre. Registration is not complete without payment.
Registration forms/fee, costume fees and 10 post dated cheques can be returned on or before August 26th. I will be at my home studio from 1:00-3:30 on this final day. Other registration days are at the Fitness Centre are on August 12/19 2:00-4:00. I very much appreciate it when these advanced dates are used! If you wish to pay by etransfer it needs to be the full annual amount. It can be very difficult to get cheques from our local bank so please start the process now.
New this season:
- Two classes will be participating in the Holiday Panto at the Community Hall with Ms. Taylor. These are not optional. They are soooo much fun and this years show is Star Wars themed! The permission slips and registration forms for those are available by email for Ms. Taylors Hip hop and Jr. Modern class and are due back Sept. 1 or with your annual registration package.
- I would like to welcome Jenny Ivany to the Gabriola Dance professional staff. Jenny is a level to certified gymnastics coach with 25 years of coaching experience. She will be offering an acro-technique class for Junior and Senior dancers on Fridays at 3:15!

Performance seniors please return your performance class sheets and payments as they are overdue. We will not begin to work on choreography until these are returned. Choreography should be taught before regular classes begin and school and work makes it hard to find studio time.

Exciting news from Gabriola Dance and Pilates...these three talented young ladies, who I have been teaching for many years, auditioned and were accepted with the Dancestreams company! They will have the opportunity to dance for and learn choreography by some of the best choreographers in BC and beyond as well as go on tour as far as Ontario! More info soon in the Sounder including a possible tour date on Gabriola! Congratulations girls. You have become strong athletes and stunning artists! There will be a Gabriola performance as well!
